Development of Air Ventilation Garments with Small Fan Panels to Improve Thermal Comfort

Air ventilation garments (AVGs) are reported to be effective in improving thermal comfort hot environments previous research. The purpose of this study was develop AVGs with small fan panels and examine their cooling performance. Three equipped more, much smaller sized fans were developed, including FFV (ten all located on the front body), BBV back FBV (six body four body). Another garment, without but same structure textile material, made as a reference garment (CON). performance examined through subject trials moderately environment 32 °C 60% relative humidity. Simulated office work 70 min sedentary activity performed. results showed that physiological indexes mean skin temperature, torso heart rate three AVG scenarios significantly lower than those CON condition (p < 0.05). Thermal sensation, comfort, wetness sensation also improved when wearing No significant difference displayed among whole > 0.05) due similarity air velocity created by panels. A found local skin, reducing chest belly scapula temperature This indicates heat strain thus recommended for use environments.
